NIB loan to Pohjola to improve housing sector’s environmental impact

The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and Finland’s Pohjola Bank plc have signed an agreement for a loan programme, totalling EUR 50 million, earmarked for improving energy efficiency and wastewater treatment in the housing sector and industrial buildings.

Pohjola Bank will open a credit facility for housing companies, SMEs and large corporations in Finland. Subloans will, for instance, finance improvements in the treatment of wastewater from public-use facilities, improved fertiliser and manure handling or building renovation with the purpose of improving buildings’ energy efficiency.

“This loan programme is an example of how NIB in cooperation with an intermediary bank can reach out to smaller-scale projects improving direct impact on the environment. Better waste management and energy efficiency will positively affect both the environment and the standard of living,” says Johnny Åkerholm, NIB President and CEO. Read more

Synsam vokser med 12 brillebutikker

Synsam er i sluttfasen for overtakelse av syv optikerforretninger og har nylig overtatt fem butikker på Østlandet. Kjøpene gir Synsam 73 millioner kroner i økt årlig omsetning og bringer kjeden nærmere målet om 30 prosent markedsandel i Norge.

De syv siste av transaksjonene gjennomføres før sommeren.

- Vi er svært tilfreds med kjøpene. Forretningene innfrir den kvaliteten vi skal ha, og medarbeiderne har den høye kompetansen vi skal ha ved alle våre butikker, sier administrerende direktør Johan Baklund i Synsam Norge.

Synsam er Norges og Nordens ledende optikerkjede med over 80 butikker i Norge, og 360 i Norden. Kjedens mål er å være best på brillemote og ledende i å hjelpe kundene å ta vare på synet sitt.

De syv frittstående butikkene på vestlandet som kjeden nå kjøper, representerer 50 millioner kroner i årlig omsetning, mens de forrige fem på Østlandet, omsetter for 23 millioner kroner årlig.

Offensiv satsing

- Vi har bransjens raskeste tilvekst av nye butikker og har produkter og tjenester av beste kvalitet. Disse oppkjøpene kommer i tillegg til forbedringer i selve driften. Vi er ganske enkelt blitt både mer effektive og yter bedre service til kundene. Vi styrker faghandelen gjennom effektiv kjededrift, sier Baklund.

I 2010 oppnådde Synsam Norge en EBITDA-margin på 13,5 prosent – før omstillingskostnader. 20 prosent i årets fem første måneder.. Optikerkjeden som er Nordens største, har en markedsandel på 15 prosent i Norge, og 25 prosent totalt i Norden. Read more
